About the event
About
Emerging from rave culture in Taiwan, (gaze_loop) asks whether freedom on the dance floor is simply the comfort of watching ourselves perform.
A drag queen playing the Gaze Police holds a phone as a live camera while a fixed camera watches the whole room. Faces become tracking boxes and numbers; images are delayed, fragmented and projected back, and every reaction – approaching, hiding, freezing, provoking – re-enters the loop. Over three hours, audiences may arrive, dance, watch and leave as surveillance shifts from event to atmosphere. Responding to Tricky Ghosts, the work treats these gazes as ghosts that linger and return.
Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ) is held every four years and unites scenographers, directors, and performance makers from over 70 countries. (gaze_loop) will be presented as part of Taiwan's participation in PQ 2027.
